70's Style Inspired

The Seventies was a time of many changes, including many changes in fashion.  Mini skirts and wide legged pants became popular, compared to the longer style skirts from the 50's and 60's.  I chose white pants for this look because they remind me of the pant suit and disco outfits that became fashionable.  The top I wore is 100% polyester, so it a softer, suede-like material than people normally wear today, but I could see it as popular back then.  And if you love really soft material you will like something like it too!  For my hair I tried to recreate the feathered look that you can see on famous ladies such as Farrah Fawcett.
What decade is your favorite to recreate fashion-wise?

I wore this necklace as a hint to the Flower Power movement that occurred during the late 1960's to early 1970's.

Platforms were popular in the 70's so I chose this pair of comfy, periwinkle t-strap espadrille wedges.

60's Style Inspired

Sixties fashion is coming back into popularity this year.  This dress has a 60's feel with the pleating and defined waist. I wore this look out to dinner with friends. We went Top of India which I love going to whenever I can.  My parents were both from Britain, so I was introduced to Indian food at an early age.  One of my favorite memories is going to an amazing Indian restaurant in Glasgow, Scotland when I was about 6 years old. It has become a ritual to take certain friends to Indian at least once a year.

These two characters, Joan and Betty, are on the AMC's 60's based show Mad Men. I enjoy watching Mad Men, even though sometimes the characters annoy me, their personalities seem realistic and I like seeiong how life may have been back then.

50's Style Inspired

I don't usually wear really long skirts, but today I decided to wear this black skirt to try something different.  The length and style reminds me of a 50's woman's style. In the 50's women were expected to look elegant constantly. Our style today is much more relaxed depending on the area you live in. I think trying out styles from different decades is interesting and fun, and you can always put your own spin on the outfit to make it more modern. For anyone who may be on the shorter side and is worried about wearing a longer length skirt, I would definitely recommend heels or taking the skirt to a tailor to get the perfect fit. I am 5'2 so I felt heels helped me a lot! I thought these heels added a quirkiness to the outfit because they have cutouts!

Pumpkins!

Even though I prefer warmer weather, I do get excited for Fall/Wintertime because of all the great holidays we get to observe!  Halloween is coming up in less than a week and yesterday my household got some pumpkins to celebrate.  My sister Becca was really excited to carve her pumpkin, so as soon as we got home we started designing.  Becca and I usually get large pumpkins, but this year we wanted something different so we got tiny ones.  They turned out to be gourdes, so they were harder to carve into then normal and my sister ended up having to use a drill!
How do you guys get ideas for your pumpkin designs?  I think most people probably have more professional looking pumpkins than me lol!! I simply look on the internet for something I like, then I make a version similar to it. There are some amazing pumpkin carvers out there!

I chose this white one cause it looks like a skull.

My boyfriend like to do funny faces in front of the camera.

My sister had one with boils. She decided to paint it black to try something different than she usually designs.

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian Inspired Glamour

I recently saw a pic of Kim and Kourtney Kardashian with Kourt's son Mason. The pictures were really cute and I was excited when I remembered my sister had recently got a cape similar to Kim's.  I asked my sister to do photos with me and we had a lot of fun. We ended up laughing almost the entire time! To do these photos, we went to a park and the air is definitely getting chilly! One thing I love about cold weather is that the air smells so good! What do you think about Kim and Kourt's casual style? Kourtney is wearing what looks like flat, white, oxford shoes, but I went with a pair of brown heeled oxfords! Do you like men's wear inspired shoes?

I like Kourt's necklace a lot (actually I prefer it to mine lol), but this is a cute alternative.
